Schifo

People! I am going to cut off my fingers and feet. They are driving me INSANE. I went to the Italian doctor yesterday (it was just one room…an office, bathroom and examination room all in one…very efficient) and apparently I have some skin disease children normally get. It’s apparently nameless and will (hopefully) go away in a few days. PLEASE cross your non-itchy fingers for me! I haven looked on the internet and haven’t been able to find anything that fits. They are just itchy bumps…not red or swollen. It’s just bizarre. I have ruled out scabies, AIDS, and syphilis, thank goodness. I am hoping they are just stress related and will clear up soon. The rest of me is itchy too, but there are no bumps. WTF?!?!?! I don’t know. It makes me feel dirty and gross. Whatever. Moving on.

Camp is better. Still annoying, yes. But I think I turned a corner (as I always do) and have learned to just be an idiot and walk away when I can’t deal. I take a little breather and mainly just laugh at the ridiculousness of these kids. I also like talking to them like they are adults and can understand me. I’ll be at the board, asking questions about things and when I get blank stares, I’m just like, really? That’s cool…love your enthusiasm. You guys are so smart. More blank stares. Then I pass out paper and we color. Or we play BINGO. BINGO is good because it’s animals in English…so I feel like they are learning a little. But like I said, the emphasis has moved away from learning and more towards me not hitting a child.

Oh yeah, and I want to talk about the lunch food. We get lunch everyday from the cafeteria and it’s so fabulous. They come in these little plastic squares (see picture) and every day we get a pasta for a first dish and then a veggie and meat for a second. The little squares always crack me up, but there have been a few that just tickled me to death. Tuesday, we got pork cubes and carrots. And the carrots were just this huge pile of shredded carrots. I found it hysterical. First off, it was way more carrots than any one person would ever eat in one sitting. And second, why shredded? That just seems like way more work and shredded carrots are just awkward to eat. Especially plain ones that really seem more suited for a salad. The next day was even better. Instead of a meat, we just got two hardboiled eggs and tomatoes. In my opinion, that’s kind of cheating with the meat and veggie concept. I don’t really consider eggs a meat…they have protein, but would you really call them a meat? Probably not. And, tomatoes are technically a fruit. I just thought the whole meal was funny. Luckily, the pasta dish is usually enough food for me…they give us a ton! I really don’t understand how all Italians are not fatty mcfat fats because they eat SO much food ALL the time and so so SO many carbs. It is seriously starch fest 2009 here. For example, one day for lunch I had white bread, white potatoes, and white pasta. For dinner, more white past, more white bread and some chicken. YUM!

Anyhow, our big final show is tomorrow: LO SPETTACOLO. And oddly enough, spettacolo just means show. Not spectacular. Which is good, really, because they show is going to be faaaarrrrr from spectacular. More on that after. Andrew, one of the other tutors, is calling it lo disastero. Can’t wait!

To end, here are some pictures of my crazy students. And some videos. I don’t know how good the sound quality is, but please excuse my singing. Mainly please focus on their singing back. I wish I had done the video earlier in the camp because it was initially them literally just mumbling nonsense and doing the motions. And the last one is some of the girls dancing to “Poker Face.” I couldn’t take any more High School Musical (we’ve listened to it all day, every day for two weeks), so I put that on. The girls went crazy!!! It was sooo funny! I didn’t get the first dance, but I guess they are emulating the video? I haven’t seen it, but the first shot is my favorite…the girl (Francesca) laying on the ground. I didn’t get the really good portion of the dance, but that pose just cracks me up. Enjoy!

PS- I am for sure headed to Padua Saturday. The family is apparently really pumped about me coming because they have facebooked me multiple times and have already promised me “internet to keep in touch with friend and family,” good food, a clean room, and “all our love.” I am a little nervous I am not going to be as fabulous as they are making me out to be! We’ll see!

Pazzo

Hey people. So, I am ready to kill some Italian children. Seriously, they are driving me INSANE. They have gotten worse as the week goes on. They are a few cute ones, but collectively, they are beyond ridiculous. They just do not shut up. Ever. And when I’m trying to get their attention and I’m literally screaming at them, they just look at me like I’m crazy. So then I try the opposite and just sit there quietly with the be quiet face and they ignore me. I really just can’t win. So I sit at my desk and play music and give them worksheets to do. That works sometimes. Other times I can’t take it and we just go outside and they run around and I sit in the shade for a few minutes and pull myself together. Then we go back inside and try again. The camp has its fun moments, but it’s also super frustrating. Especially because there are forty of them, and only three tutors. And the Italian camp director is no help at all. She speaks less English than some of the kids (I know, wtf? How did she get this job?), and is not much of a disciplinarian. Today I asked her to watch my class for five minutes while I cleaned up after paint time (whoa, bad idea) and I could hear my kids screaming from down the hall. I walked back in the class expecting to see her laying down the law, but she’s just standing there and all the kids are crawling around on the floor, screeching and hiding under the desks. What the hell lady?! So then we had some outside time. And to show them how mad I was, I wouldn’t let them go to the bathroom. I know, so harsh. (Don’t worry, they are not suffering…they all ask to go to the toilet at least 10 times a day).

Anyways, other than the children driving me insane…Italian life is pretty good. The food is fabulous, as always. We went to a tortellini festival last night and it was probably the best pasta I’ve had in my life. And the festival was just so very Italian, I loved it. It was like a church bizarre type of thing, but so fancy and everyone got wine and bread and the food was SO good. We got three types of tortellini for the first course and then rabbit, donkey and polenta for the second course. Polenta is kind of like grits…only better. And, yes, rabbit. And donkey. It was actually good…it was like, BBQ style. Only not actual BBQ, obviously. I don’t know what it was, but it was tasty. I don’t ask questions anymore, I just eat. I found out the other day we had horse for dinner one night. That’s mainly why I don’t ask anymore. No need to know I am eating Black Beauty for dinner and ruin it.

I made another trip to the huge Italian grocery store today. Complete madness. People were everywhere, running other people over with their carts. Italians shop the same way they drive, like crazy people and with no concern with anyone else. The lack of manners here is making me a little frustrated. It’s just their culture, really, but as a proper southerner, I expect an excuse me when you bump into me with your shopping cart. They don’t. They also don’t think twice about cutting people in line. Actually, there is really no concept of a line. It’s a free for all and the pushiest person wins, regardless of who got there first. You better speak up or you will never get anything accomplished. I’m learning. This Italian experience is SO different from last time I was here. Probably because I was with Americans most of the time. And I was more in control of what I did and ate. I was less absorbed in actual Italian life when studying abroad. Here, I work and live with Italians, so I am getting the real deal. It’s exhilarating, frustrating, fascinating, fabulous, ridiculous and exhausting all at one time. If you can even imagine such a thing. It’s a lot to handle.

Oh, and the athlete’s foot is not getting better, in case you were concerned. In fact, it’s worse. And, I now have itchy everything. My hands are the worst. They have all these little bumps on them, like I had an allergic reaction to something. What? Who knows. It’s getting old. I don’t know what to do…cutting off my toes and fingers does not really seem like a viable option, though tempting. I’m still waiting for the “crema vaginale” to work it’s magic.

All in all, things are good. I am really happy here and am looking forward to changing things up next week. I think I am going to Padova, which is near Venice. Things are not certain yet, so we’ll see, but I’m excited about the possibility of going back to Venice. It was one of my favorite places to visit last time. We’ll see.

Keep in touch people! I miss everyone! Ciao ciao!

I got 99 problems, but a clown ain't one

Right..so that's not Italian. It does, however, kind of sort of fit my life at the moment. And I think it's funny...the theme of the camp is CRAZY CIRCUS, and the other tutors and I were trying to think of rap songs to change to a circus theme and that was one. So there ya go.

Anyways.

Ok people, here is the long awaited, extremely entertaining and more extensive blog post. I hate to admit it, but nothing too exciting has happened lately. So, I’ll just tell you about random things I find entertaining.

First off, I have been in Italy for two weeks now. Which seems crazy to me because I feel like I’ve been here for way longer than that. But, I’m having a good time and settling in. I have gotten used to the different keyboard, for one. I found the apostrophe, which made me extremely happy because it was really bothering me to send emails that were grammatically incorrect. It’s the little things really.

Camp is going well. I guess. I have kind of given up on actually teaching things and am focusing more on games, listening to High School Musical, coloring and dancing. This new attitude seems to be working better than teaching. Last week I made myself sick and got a sore throat from trying to yell and/or speak louder than the kids. I was obviously quite unsuccessful. I don’t think there are any people louder than Italians. I should have already known this from living with Ray for 10 years. Silly me.

And speaking of not feeling well…I seem to have picked up some strange ailments since I got here. First off, I have athletes foot. And it’s freaking itchy and disgusting. I’m kind of embarrassed of it…but I wanted to share anyways. Mainly because when I went to visit Davide this weekend, I showed his dad (he’s a doctor) and he gave me this cream to put on it. Only…the tube says “crema vaginale.” Soooo yeah. Not sure how that is going to work. Since his dad speaks pretty much no English, I gave up trying to ask for an explanation. I am just going to cross my fingers and hope that this “crema vaginale” will cure my athlete’s foot because I am getting pretty sick of itchy toes. I’ll keep you updated. Other ailments include being tired all the time (nothing new, really), not being able to stop myself from eating-even when I’m not hungry, being itchy all over, and having random sneezing fits at really inconvenient times. Like on the train, while an old woman is giving me the evil eye.

Oh yeah…the train. So that was an interesting time, going to Rovigo. First, it was 30 minutes late. Then, I get on and there are no seats. I was like, whatever, my ride is only 20 minutes, I’ll stand. I walk to the back and there are two nuns sitting in a row with an seat in between them with two bags in it. They don’t move it, so I just keep standing. But then this other woman walks back and asks if she can sit there. And the nuns say no! NUNS, people! I mean, what is that about?? And in Italy, home of the holy city itself. I was a little disturbed…and disappointed. I mean, if nuns won’t help you out, who will? Honestly. Then the woman was like, bitching to me about them, but in Italian so I don’t really know what she was saying. But I know she was mad. I told her, in Italian, that I didn’t speak Italian, but she kept on talking anyways. Finally she left and I guess the nuns felt guilty or something because they finally moved their stuff and asked if I wanted to sit down. I don’t know, maybe they asked themselves WWJD? or something and decided he would not deny a seat to someone because his bags needed a place to sit.

Anyways, moving on to Davide’s house. I forgot what a goober he is! It was super fun to hang out with him. I only got to see him for a little bit Saturday because he had to go to work. So then it was just me and the parents…which was kind of a challenge. With my limited Italian and their limited English, we had an…interesting…time trying to communicate. His dad can’t just sit either. They showed me a photo album of their trip to Sicily and he felt the need to not only explain the pictures, but also the historical significance of the things in the photo. The words needed for those kinds of conversations are waaay out of my Italian scope. I tried for a little while…but then it was making my head hurt, so I tried to look uninterested in hopes that he would stop. He didn’t. So I went to the bathroom for 15 minutes when we were finished with the album viewing. Then, thankfully, it was time for dinner. We went to the restaurant where Davide works, Pizza e Vino and had just that, pizza and wine. We had pizza with sardines on it, which was not my fave. I guess I didn’t notice when I was here before because I was in control of my food, but Italians freaking LOVE salt. And I can’t handle it. I try, but I’m done after a few bites. Anyways, we made it through dinner and even got to dessert and limoncello…yum!

Breakfast did not go as smoothly. First, they made fun of me for not drinking coffee. And when I said I just wanted water, the mom (Maria Chiara) was appalled and insisted I drink orange juice instead. Then, she asked if I wanted Nutella and toast, and of course I said yes, but I think we got our signals crossed because I ended up with a Nutella sandwich. Which would be fine, only it was an extremely large sandwich and she was piling the Nutella on. Seriously, it was like half the bottle. I mean, I love Nutella, but it is so bad for you! I’m sure it was enough calories for the entire week! So yeah, I’m definitely going to get fat here. Oh, and they also somehow thought I wanted mozzarella cheese as well, so I ate that, my Nutella sandwich, a banana, yogurt, cookies, and orange juice. I was pretty full. Then, his parents wanted to go to this art exhibit in town on Art-Deco…which was interesting, but we did this guided tour and of course I didn’t know what the guide was saying! Davide’s dad wanted him to translate everything, but she was talking way to fast…so we just wandered around by ourselves and I had another sneezing fit. Don’t know what that was about. Oh yeah, and his dad (Silvano) was sporting a fanny pack, socks with sandals and this fabulous Hitler-esque moustache. It was pretty entertaining…esp when he decided the museum hadn’t angled the lights correctly and started adjusting them himself. So funny!

Long story short, it was really nice to see Davide and his family again. Then I took the train home and decided I needed a Coca-Cola Light (Diet Coke) and went to the McDonalds in the Modena train station. McDonalds here cracks me up! Of course they have Big Macs, but they also have all these other crazy things like chicken sandwichs on foccacia bread with pancetta. So fabulous! Then I came home to my Carpi family and we ate mini paninos for dinner and they were super good. Seriously, I am going to gain like 50 pounds.

Ok, well this might be little much for one post, so I’ll stop for now. There is so much though! I would like to say though, that everyone here has been SO nice to me! It’s unbelievable! I don’t know how to repay everyone, but I am so so happy to be here with all these wonderful people. (That is excluding the punk Italian kids at camp...they can suck it). The next post will further discuss my Italian children and how they are crazy, annoying, and fabulous all at one time.

Ciao ciao for now! Baci per tutti! (Kisses for all)

PS-Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I am having some problems uploading them....I'll try again soon!

Allora

Hey people! So, I dont have a lot of time because I am super tired right now and need to go to bed...but I wanted to update really quick. Also, I may or may not be slightly drunk. Don't judge.

So anyways, camp started yesterday and the its crraaazzzyyy!!! I have 10 kids, ages 6-10. 7 girls and 3 boys. And they know slim to no English. So that's kind of a challenge. It's kind of fun though. And by kind of, I mean, it is super hard. I try to play games and teach them things and I get total blank stares. So it's like teaching a class, or working at camp, only 10 times harder because the kids have no idea what I'm saying. There are a lot of hand gestures and demonstrations involved. Sometimes they understand, sometimes we do things half-right and sometimes I just give up and we move on to something else that involves less explaining. The camp is from 8-4. It is a very long day. It takes a lot of energy to explain yourself 10...no 50 times in one day. But it's fun. And lunch is so funny! It's so Italian, I freaking love it! We get a pasta first course and then some sort of meat for a second dish. The meat is kind of struggling, but the pasta is always ballin'! And the dishes come in these plastic wrap, its very elementary school cafeteria. Only its times more fabulous because they have things like fresh tomatoes in them. And it also comes with a piece of fresh bread and oil and vinegar, if you so desire. Oh, and salt. These people are ALL about salt. It's slightly ridiculous. And then today we had gelato for dessert. Perfetto! I love it.

So that's my life. Yesterday I had to go straight home and take a nap...I couldn't take it. But, today I was a little more used to things and the other tutors and I went out to a bar...or two. And then I came home to my family and spilled water all over the dinner table. Oops. That's what happens when you start drinking at 5 and have dinner at 9.

Don't worry though, I behaved myself otherwise. And now it's time for bed. More later...and pictures soon, promise! We are currently watching Sleepless in Seattle in Italian and it is freaking AWESOME. Tom Hanks is way hotter when speaking Italian.

Ciaooooo!

Grazie

So...I've decided to switch to random Italian phrases as post titles, instead of songs. That might have to be switched again soon, seeing as how I know only a select amount of phrases. I am hoping to pick up on a lot more though, now that I am living with an Italian family.

Ok, lets recap. First, training last week was in Armi di Taggia, near SanRemo and it was AMAZING. First off, we were RIGHT on the beach. Literally, I walked out of my bungalow door and there it was. It was so fabulous. My two roommates there, Kelley and Niemh, were amazing as well. We got along so great and had tons of fun. Niemh is Irish and she pronounces her name all crazy and Kelley is from New York and she is just crazy in general. And the rest of the people in my program are great as well. It was one of the least stressful and productive trainings I have ever been involved in. There were 14 of us this week, and then next week 150 tutors come. I am really glad I was in the smaller group because I don't really like training with a huge group of people. So anyways, we basically sang songs and learned random things all day and then hung out at the beach, drank wine, and ate cheese and bread. We got three free meals a day at this restaurant close by. Which was actually kind of a disappointment because the food there was not so good. The first meal started off good with this amazing lasagne...but then we got some sort of mystery meat with mystery gravy for the second dish (secondi piatti) and things just went downhill from there. I wish I had taken pictures. One dish was some sort of ham ring filled with green mush. It was not tasty. But no worries, I didn't starve, we found a grocery store nearby. And, they usually had a good dessert for us, so it wasn't all bad. And, the 14 of us always had a good time so it was always fun to show up for a meal and guess what we were eating. I seriously cannot say enough good things about my group. We all got along great and I was sad to see everyone leave.

We are split up into different groups because we all go to different camps. So I am working with 2 other tutors and we are in the city of Carpi. Everyone else is in a nearby town and we all stay with a different host family. Hopefully we'll get to see each other some. But after these two weeks, we all go to completely different camps. We had to take 3 trains to get to Carpi yesterday, which was kind of a challenge after our last night celebration in Armi di Taggia. But, I managed.

My host family, the Lugli family, is super nice! They sent me a facebook message before I came, which I thought was so cute! Last night they took me out to dinner and we had some local cuisine, which I have already forgotten the name of. But was basically a bunch of meat and cheese and you made your own sandwich type thing with this really yummy bread. There were also veggies you dipped in oil, but they were eating like, entire onions and I couldn't handle that...way to strong for me. And of coures we had dessert! I had some sort of ice cream thing..it was fab. Anyways, the family has three sons, Ricardo-21, Michael-17, and Eros-13, who is going to the camp with me. I actually haven't met Eros yet because he is away at a hockey tournament for the weekend.

Ok, well just wanted to give everyone an update! Things are going so fabulous...much better than I ever imagined! I am looking forward to camp starting on Tuesday and seeing what these crazy Italian children are all about it. More later! Oh! And I got a phone with free incoming calls, so shoot me an email if you want the number. Here are some pictures from last week....the rest are on facebook.

My fabulous group!

Ciao everyone! I still have to pay for internet, so time is limited. But I did find out I am going to be working at a camp in Carpi, which is in Modena, where they make balsamic vinegar...yum! Also, I will have the youngest kids...6-7. Should be interesting!!!!

The weather is beautiful and everyone here is so nice and we are all getting along great. I love it. Seriously, I feel like I am back where I belong.

More later!!! Ciao ciao!

29 May 2009

I'm leavin on a jet plane....

...don't know when I'll be back again.

ANNNDDD it's 1:00 in the morning. I am leaving on that jet plane in 29 hours. I should be sleeping. Why am I awake??!?!

Probably because I have a thousand things still left to do and I can't sleep because they are all running through my head and stressing me OUT. But, it's ok. I'll be ok. All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go... My bags are extremely heavy and filled with things I probably will end up not needing...but at least they are packed.

Anyways, just wanted to drop a note, say hey, ask people to cross their fingers for me on my journey and to please keep in touch. And, thanks to all my loyal readers that have made it this far. There was a lot of whining, but I think some really good times are ahead. Stay tuned.

Ciao!

27 May 2009

Let's take a picture now...

I do not want to forget, the way you look at me when everything is perfect.

"Perfect" by Doria Roberts. SUCH a good song.

And SUCH a good weekend. One of the best. Let me recap. Pictures will be involved.

First off, I saw Star Trek. I am not a trekkie, nor have I ever been a trekkie or ever desire to be one. But the new movie was really, really good. Having no prior knowledge of the show or other movies turned out to be ok and I was only lost for a few tiny parts. But it was a pleasant surprise and I am intrigued as to why I think Spock is hot with his creepy ears and eyebrows. Captain Kirk is hot too, in a less disturbing way.

So that was Friday. Then, on Saturday my fabulous college friends came to see me off. My two roommates, Jeannie and Katrina came, as well as a good friend, Kelly. We had a dinner party with other cool PC people and a good time was had by all. It was especially awesome because my mom and stepdad were out of town, so we got to throw a party while the rents were gone, high school style! Only...my mom knew about it, we were all actually of legal drinking age and nothing especially crazy went on. But whatever, it was still throw back. And awesome. The best part was definitely the surprise McFly concert we discovered at Wild Wings in Mt Pleasant. McFly is an 80s cover band and they are AMAZING. None of us had any idea they were playing, but luckily we randomly decided to go to Wild Wings and there they were! It totally made my life. 80s music is the BEST. There were some total creepers there though...they made it kind of entertaining..but also kind of scary. One got a little too close. Anyways, here we are, having fun.

Aren't my friends hot?

Sunday was rainy and low key, but that night was nicer. And, my Curves buddies took me out to dinner! It was really fun and the food was REALLY good. I forgot how much I love Mexican food. Oh, and they were all super sweet and gave me a card and these really pretty bracelets! So thoughtful and nice. I am going to miss working out with them! We also had a little photo shoot....

Again, hot. And I went to a fun little Memorial Day cookout with the Heads.

Then it was Memorial Day and I'm probably the only person in Charleston that was not at the beach or a pool. It was an annoying day, no need for details because the night was fun. Crab legs (my fave!) as a going away dinner at my dads and then beer pong with the super fun, ridiculous boys I used to live down the street from. There was a minor causality when my brother decided to shoulder me in the face when we were both going for the ball. Other than a purple lip, I am recovering nicely.

I have so much more to discuss, but damn, I'm tired! I can't believe I am leaving in FOUR days. CRAZY! And I still haven't packed. I should probably get on that.

22 May 2009

Mamma Mia!

PEOPLE-It is May 21st. It will be May 22 in 45 minutes. That means I am leaving in EIGHT DAYS. OH MY GOODNESS.

I don't even know what to do with myself. Especially since I have not packed, or even attempted to pack. I set aside some things I would like to take and that's about it. They probably won't fit in my suitcase. Do I even have a suitcase? Perhaps not. I can't find it at the moment. I have forbidden myself from entering Target again for the rest of my time here. I've literally been there five times in the past two weeks and spent well over $100. And what do I have to show for it? Some shorts? Maybe some other useless stuff too.

But here is some AWESOME news:
Sadly, it is not an earlier Harry Potter release date. It's even BETTER! I get to go to a REAL, honest-to-goodness Greek wedding. I, for real, could not be more excited. I have been getting some fabulous emails from my Greek family (some examples in a moment) and one of them said I needed to bring a formal dress for their older son's (not the one I'm taking care of) wedding! A BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING. Or maybe it'll be Mamma Mia style, I just don't know. Either way, I can. not. wait. It might be the best day of my life. If it surpasses the photo shoot at the Vatican (see Fourteen), I can die happy. Ok, not really, because I have to go to Austin's wedding before that can happen. But, it could possibly the best thing ever. I don't know, I'll let you know the day after. Other great news I've gotten from Pericles. Um, yes, his name is really Pericles. Anyways:
-"Don't panic-You are not going to outer space." [I had some packing issues]

He also sent me a schedule of my typical day. Here are some highlights:
-15:30-18:00: Seista (At least for Panayotis) [For jacky too! Naptime, yes please!]
-21:00-21:00 Putting the pieces together... (shower, relaxing) [aka more nap time]
-21:00 Dinner [People, that is dinner at 9:00. Love it]

There was also some other things that included sailing, shopping, taking shots and dancing. So, pretty much my dreams come true. Oh wait, here is my favorite part:
(If you visit the Google Earth sites, you will find out that our place is next to the beach – we open the door and there we are!)
Oh god. Can't wait. Seriously, come visit.

And as an added bonus, here are some pictures from the Vatican photo shoot...since none were added in the original post. You're welcome.

This is a polizia people. Not a poser caribinieri. (jk...I don't know the difference)

Is that a sniper up there? No, it's the Camerlengo!

In front on the fountain? Yes, I take.

I don't know if you can tell in this photo, but my face is literally about to explode with happiness.

Taken at 2 in the morning by some very lovely polizia. Grazie, polizia!

Please tell me you're joking

So I am a huge nerd. And I am STOKED about the new Harry Potter movie coming out this summer. And I wanted to make sure I would get to see it, even in Greece. So I looked up the release date online. I'm scrolling through everything...it opens July 15 in the US and then in other countries then, or up until July 24...and then I get to the very last country. Guess what it is.....
Right! Greece! And it opens....AUGUST 27! What the hell?!? Seriously, what is that all about? It's the ONLY country with an opening in August. Why do I have to wait that long?! Am I going to have to take a weekend trip to another country just to see the new Harry Potter movie? It looks like it. I mean, whatever, I'll do what I have to. The last one that came out, I had to drive 4 hours to see it (I was at the ranch...it was the closest theater), so I am no stranger to going to extreme limits to see my man Harry. Either that or Greece is going to need to get it together by July. We'll see what happens.

Little Miss Can't Be Wrong

Please tell me you people have seen these men before. Because apparently no one at my party knew what I was talking about, except one other enlightened girl. Granted, I was not being very specific because I didn't know the names of these things, but I read these books all the time when I was little! And they have a Little Miss series too! Anyways, it came up because my fabulous friends had a going away party (holy shit, I leave in less than 2 weeks!) for me on Saturday and one of them made a watermelon keg:

And I thought it looked like one of the Mr. Men characters. Only, I didn't know what they were called and no one knew what I was talking about. But whatever, I knew and that's all that matters! That, and that this was a freaking watermelon KEG that dispensed a really strong mixed drink known as jacky juice. It was quite delicious.

Anyways, the party was super fun! There were lots of jello shots in syringes, which made them super fun and easy to take. Which meant I took upwards of 10. At least.

There was also cake!

And my brother came.

And other fun people.

And there were all kinds of shenanigans.

Overall, a a great time. And it followed a great day of Habitat for Humanity, which made me very tired, but I persevered, no worries. I love doing Habitat! It makes me feel so productive. And sore. I pretty much hammered all day long and my arm was killing me a few hours afterwards. Nothing a little ibuprofen couldn't fix though. I went with Allison, and she has video of me hammering, in case you don't believe how hard I worked. However, she managed to get my most pathetic hammering of the day captured...I look pretty sad. It does, however, showcase my amazing ambidextrous hammering skills. Which is interesting, because I am not ambidextrous in any other capacity.

So anyways, it was a really good weekend. Now I will spend the rest of the week packing, freaking out, cleaning, shopping, and trying to get my iPod in order. iTunes is SUCH a pain in the ass, btw. But to end on a good note, here is another picture from the party...one of my faves! (Other people have more fun pictures).

OOO, Heaven is a place on earth

OH MY GOSH. Chuck (that's a radio station) played MY jam today and it made my LIFE. Actually, it just made my ride home a lot better and made me extremely happy for the time it was playing. Then, I got really tired. But, it was still pretty fabulous. And I wanted to share.

Other than that, nothing much has been happening. I read to some first graders today, then it rained, then I went on a walk and that's about it.

More later when something interesting happens. It might take a while. Don't hold your breath.

Later dudes! :)

That's life

That's what all the people say....

Oh Frank...I love you. And this post is random and so is my life, so hence the title. Life has been good lately and I wanted to let everyone share the goodness with me.

Actually, not everything has been good. For instance, this ridiculous sinus infection I managed to pick up sometime post-strep throat. But whatever, I think the worst is over.

BUT-for some good news: Cody (my step-brother) graduated from the Citadel this weekend! YAY! Good for him! I didn't get to go to the actual ceremony, but I went to the final parade the day before and they have what's called the long gray line...and that's pretty much what it is. A long ass line of all the senior cadets. And they're all wearing gray. I know, creative name, right? But, it was pretty cool looking. They all stand in a line and then hold hands (so precious!) and walk towards the stands. Then they turn around and wave to the underclassmen cadets. Which is just really funny because you know they are thinking, hahahaha! Hey you losers that still have to stay in this hellhole for a few more years. We're leaving..bye bitches! That's just speculation though, I don't know what they're really thinking.

Anyways, his graduation, of course, made me think about my graduation. Which, of course, makes me bitter. So we are not going to dwell on it. Instead, we are going to look at these lovely pictures that showcases me, my super cute dress, and Cody's huge ass Citadel ring. Yes, I know, it really is a lovely sight.

The really good news of the week is that my Improv show was last night! And it was super fun! And funny! Well, I thought it was funny...I don't know how funny I actually was to those watching, but I got some laughs so I am going to count it is a success. And, as you know, I just love being on stage and being the center of attention. Well, I wasn't ever really the center of attention, since we're with someone else on stage...but it was close enough.

Oh yeah, funny story...I had to buy one pair of underwear yesterday at Target. It was awkward. I went to the beach and forgot to bring a pair to change into afterwards. And now, since I'm back out in the boonies of Mt. P with my mom, it was too far to run home and get some. So I just bought a single pair at Target. The lady was like, um, is this all? Yes, cashier lady, that is all. Thank you.

Also, I love Curves. Have I talked about that? Because I totally do. Everyone there is super awesome and nice.

And for the opposite of super awesome and nice, the bitchiest of all bitches came into work today. I don't really know what set it off, but she was NOT happy with me. And she let me know by telling me if she wasn't a christian, she would punch me in the face. So then I told her I wasn't doing her test and walked off. And instead of just leaving, she continued to pee, then threatened the other guy that worked and then THREW HER PEE ON THE FLOOR. Seriously. Threw it on the floor. So that was awesome. But it was so ridiculous it was funny. Who does that? Crazy bitches, that's who.

OH YEAH! Who's Bad was AWESOME. I found some friends and got to go and they rocked my face off! They are playing again in Charleston the 29th. Sadly, I am leaving at 6:00 am on the 30th, so I will not be able to go. :( But, I am really glad I got to see them at all and experience their amazingness.

That's all for now. That's my life. Each time I find myself, flat on my face...I pick myself up and get back in the race! :)

Shut up, just shut up

That's in a song, right? I think I've heard it before.

Credentials aside, I would like to take this time to make some comments on people that I feel need to shut up.

First up, Bristol Palin. In an extreme case of do as I say and not as I do, she now feels it is her duty to tell the youth of America that abstinence is the right thing to do. Yes, thank you Bristol. Perhaps you should have listened to that advice and and not had sex as a young, unwed teen. Oh wait, you were told abstinence was the best policy? Hm, and that didn't work? Weird. Then maybe now it's time to look into another form of birth control. And no, the rhythm method is not the next best thing. Also, way to go on making your son feel completely unwanted. I'm sure that when he grows up and learns about the comments you're making, he is going to be thrilled. Who doesn't love hearing they were a mistake? It's just going to add to the fun times he'll be having shuffling back and forth to mom and dad's house, since his parents are not together anymore. And they're all over national television talking shit about each other. Man, these are some classy people. Definitely the type of person I want on the news telling teenagers how to behave. Quite the role model.

Speaking of role models, back to Miss California, whatever her name is. I just love how she, as a Christian, can use being a Christian to fit whatever role she wants to play and cover any mistakes that she makes. Being a Christian is just so convenient! And not only does she get to cover her tracks, but she gets to keep others down while doing it! Apparently some naughty pictures have surfaced of her. I mean, whatever girl...if posing naked fits into your Christian lifestyle, go on with your hot self. Flaunt it so everyone can see. I was under the impression only your spouse (and in her case, that would have to be someone that is opposite of her) could see your naughty parts, but I haven't been to church in a while, so I might be behind the times. No, no, silly me. She is a Christian AND a model, so that makes it ok to pose in swim wear, lingerie, and/or topless. A little prayer, bam! It's taken care of, all is forgiven. And breaching her contract, also forgivable. No need to get all upset people, even though it's legally binding, the lord called her to go above it and speak on behalf of opposite marriage for her church. Her CHURCH. Much more important than silly old contractual obligations. Those things are earthly and petty and probably will not follow you to heaven, so why be concerned with them now? And then, this is one of my favorite parts, some woman from Miss CA's church is standing up for her and uses this as her argument (or something along these lines): As a former unwed single mom, I support whatsherface. You don't have to be perfect to stand up for traditional (or whatever they are calling it) marriage. AH! Where do these people get off? They are so self-righteous. It's ok for ME to have premarital sex and live my life in sin, but it's not ok for other people to have a different lifestyle and be homosexual. And giving those people rights as a legally married couple? Absolutely not!

Here is my beef: Why? Why spend your life trying to oppress others when what they are doing has absolutely NO bearing on you or your Christian life. And why is it even about religion? It's not! People what equality legally. If you don't want to recognize that they are married in the church, don't! I mean, what about those men and women that are legally married in the court, but never had a church wedding because they are atheist? Or people that are married and aren't Christian? Yes, they do exist. I guess, overall, I don't understand why people waste their time hating. Why hate on some one's lifestyle that is not doing you any harm? Jeez, at least take up arms against people that deserve it. If gay people can't get married, I don't think pedophiles should be allowed to either! Or racially insensitive people...or people that do drugs...or that beat their kids...or wear ugly clothes. All are undeserving of equality. I guess Kat Williams is right, people always gotta be hatin. And if you don't have anyone to hate on, feel free to hate on me. You can sit back there and say my hair isn't luxurious when you know it is.

Annnndddd....done ranting. Thank you.

Anyways, for something positive: My Chic-Fil-A soccer team's picture is on the wall at the restaurant in Mt. Pleasant! It's like I'm a celebrity! Seriously, I am just so tickled by this. I want to take people there and show it off. I just found out tonight, but from here on out, all my dates will take place at the Mt. P Chic-Fil-A. It's going to be awesome.

Also, I just found out the Michael Jackson cover band "Who's Bad" will be playing at Rockin on the Point this Friday and I MUST go. I need friends to go with me. I have a limited number here. This needs to be fixed by Friday.

Off to make friends. Peace out.

I love the rain the most....

....when it stops.

It's a real song by Joe Purdy. It's a good one. It fits because I left beautiful SC weather last week to spend the weekend in rainy, cold New Jersey and now I'm back in Charleston and guess what-it's raining! Boooo. I don't mind rain, but I want some beach weather before I leave!

So I am back from my New Jersey/New York adventure extravaganza. And it was definitely low on the adventure extravaganza side of things. Kind of a disappointment, I am not going to lie. Part of it was my fault, part of it was my sister's fault, and it was partly the fault of the crappy weather and the side effects of antibiotics. However, good times were had and it was super great to see my AIFS buddies. It was seriously like nothing had changed in three years (holy crap, it's been three years) and instead of hanging out in Rome, we were just hanging out in New York. And I will say that the weather in NJ was terrible, but our day in the city was really quite lovely. And oh my gosh, I LOVE New York! Seriously, I have the shirt to prove it. I think it is just so fun and exciting and I might consider moving there one day. I would want someone to go with me though...any takers? I just love how alive it is ALL the time! If I want sushi at three in the morning, dammit, I can have it! Not so in Charleston. Not that Charleston doesn't have it's perks. I really enjoy being able to drive myself around. And the beach. Have I mentioned before that I love the beach? Because I do. It's fabulous. But I think NYC would just be so super fun to live in for a while. We'll see where life takes me after my great European summer adventure. Should be interesting. And in general, I love traveling. Going different places is so fun. Also, I love the subway. I know it's weird, but I am all about underground transit. It's so exciting! And so fast! And convienent! Other than creepers, there is no end to the fun!

Oh yeah, and two years ago today exactly, I graduated from college. WHOA. Crazy. Two years. Time flies when things are sucking. It also flies when you're having fun, so the moral is: time flies. Period. Might as well have fun because it's going to be flying either way. I know, so profound, right?

Anyways, so now I'm back at my moms, roommates with Stormy again. Oh life. It is so strange sometimes. I am really overwhelmed with the task of unpacking and repacking my entire life. But, I am also super super SUPER excited about Italy and Greece, so I'll use that energy to motivate myself. Also, other super fun things are happening the next couple of weeks, so I have lots to look forward to.

So that's that. I can't wait for this blog to get interesting again with European adventures. America is so lame. Except when you're with friends. Then things are ok :)

Forza Italia!

Tell them how I'm DEFYING GRAVITY....

I wish I could sing the title for you, so you could understand the power and passion that goes behind this song. Sadly, having it caps is the only way I can begin to explain the amazing-ness of WICKED! Which I saw this past weekend and it was FABULOUS, once again. I saw it last year in New York and it was just as amazing this time around. Only this time, I knew all the words to the songs and I had to control myself from singing along and/or running up on stage and joining in. It really took a lot of self control. Which I have very little of, so it was hard. Seriously, it's one of the best musicals ever. The book is weird, don't read it. Just go see the musical. Only don't paint yourself green or purchase Wicked book bags and wander around Jacksonville with it on. That's a little extreme. The rest of the weekend in Jacksonville was nice...perfect beach weather, good food, good friends and some dancing. Only, at the end, I'm pretty sure Katrina gave me strep throat (stupid bitch!) because she gets it ALL the time and I had it when I got home. So that sucked. Also, jk about her being a stupid bitch...she was sick too, so it sucks for both of us.

Having strep this week was particularly stressful because I had a MILLION things I needed to be doing and none of them included paying $114 to see a doctor, laying in bed feeling miserable, and taking antibiotics that turned me into a ravenous monster. But it's ok, the money was worth it, I got the antibiotics for free and I feel SO much better today. All is well. I was running around like a crazy person for half the day Wednesday, trying to move everything out of my room so a new person could move in before I left for New Jersey. That was stressful...but it all worked out, thanks to my brother, who has recently decided that doing me favors is not so bad after all. Thanks brother!

So anyways, I flew to New Jersey today (yes, ACTUALLY defying gravity. Elpheba would be so proud), and that is where I am now. My sister is a nanny here in this enormous house and I stayed to take a nap while she took one of the kids to cheerleading. The house is great and big and the people are really nice. They just have this super annoying alarm system that beeps every. single. time. someone opens the door. And for whatever reason, it beeps in her room...not just at the door. Just in case she, or whoever is in her room trying to take a nap, would like to know someone is opening and closing the door a thousand times while unloading groceries. Just in case. But, things are better now, I had a nap and once I get some food (seriously, this medicine is making me an eating monster. I can't get not-hungry), I will be fine and dandy.

The flights were fine. OH MY GOD-I freaking LOVE Sky Mall magazine. Has anyone ever looked through there? They have the CRAZIEST shit! It's so fabulous. I wish I had tons of money so I could buy all of the ridiculous things in there. It is the most random crap, but some of it is like, yeah, I really could use that! For instance, the insect repellent hat. Kind of pricey at $79.95, but I could splurge if it meant no gnats at the soccer games. And then there's stuff like, the only digital camera swim mask. I mean, for $99.95 it's like, do I really need this? And then there is the next tier of crazy things with Bigfoot, the Garden Yeti Sculpture that will "have guests doing a double take at this mythical legend hand-painted for startling realism." And for only $98.95!!!! WHAT?!?! How can it look real when Bigfoot isn't even real!? But the top level of crazy are the movie-themed things you can get. Unfortunately, any discounts you have don't apply to these, so you'll have to pay the full $195 for THE Cryptex from The Da Vinci Code or $395 for the Dark Knight Special Edition Cowl. Whatever the fuck that is. But don't worry, everything in Sky Mall is unconditionally guaranteed for life. So if you ever break the Cryptex, trying to crack the code, I guess they'll give you a new one. Please go to skymall.com to check it out for yourself. Anyways, thanks to Gladys the GPS system, it actually almost as long to get home from the airport as the actual flights. So that was interesting. New Jersey is...interesting. More about that later. I need food for now. And I am super excited about getting to see my study abroad friends in New York this weekend!

Life is so good right now! Hooray!

24 April 2009

THREE SIX FIVE

First off, I GOT THE JOB IN GREECE!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! So that's awesome. I'll be working at the camp in ITALY from June 1-July 4, then going to GREECE to be a nanny for one (1) child from July until September. That freaking rocks my face off! Feel free to come visit me. I'll be at the beach, with some ouzo or something. I'll be waiting. Ok, thanks. This is where I will be, in case you get lost:
See you there!

In other news, I just downloaded the most random, ridiculous smattering of music. And I want to share because I'm in love with it all. Well, except one song because I got the wrong version. It's that new Jesse McCartney song, but I got the one without Ludacris :( SO sad! Because my favorite part is when he's like, I miss you 23/7 and that deep voice is like 3.6.5. Makes me smile every time. Anyways, here are the songs I got:
1. I Know You Want Me-Pitbull (This song is kind of annoying after about 2 minutes)
2. True Colors-Anoop Desai ( I never watch American Idol, but I love this version. And his name is super fun to say. And he's cute. Even with his out of control eyebrows)
3. How Do You Sleep-Jesse McCartney (no Luda. tear.)
4. Free Fallin'-Live by John Mayer (I love John. Shut up haters)
5. Did You Get My Message?-Jason Mraz (there is a girl that sings with him and I'm upset she is not credited)
6. We Are Okay-Joshua Radin (Yes, we are)
7. You Are the Best Thing-Ray LaMontage (HOLY SHIT-this song is amazing)
8. I'd Rather Be With You-Joshua Radin
9. After Tonight-Justin Nozuka
(His CD cover is cool looking)
10. Perfect Picture-Carlos Bertonatti (his name is awesome)
11. The Little Things-Carlos Bertonatti (This song is ALWAYS stuck in my head)
12. I Do Not Hook Up-Kelly Clarkson (Why not Kelly? It's fun!)
13. Waking Up in Vegas-Katy Perry (God, I hate this woman, but this song is fun)
14. Sugar-Flo Rida (feat Wynter) (Flo Rida is ridic. But I still enjoy him) 15. Something Happened on the Way to Heaven-Phil Collins (an oldie, but goodie)

So there you have it. I really need a new iPod. But for now, I think I'll just make a CD for my road trip tomorrow. Going to Jacksonville to see WICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited!!!! And, for the person that was supposed to take me, you can SUCK IT! I'm taking myself!

Oh yes, and if anyone would like to come move me out of my house, I'll be here with some boxes. We will jam out to my awesome music and pack. It will be fun!

Later dudes!

Oh, if you can't find me in Greece...stop and ask this guy for directions.

He should be able to get you to where you need to be going.

21 April 2009

Did You Get My Message?

"Uh oh, where did it go, must have by-passed your phone and flown right out of the window"

Thank you Jason Mraz...that is probably what happened to both messages I've sent and the ones I was supposd to recieve. Love that song! And these lines:

"Do you ever wonder what happens to the words that we send Do they bend, do they break from the flight that they take and come back together again with a whole new meaning to the matter of our loves defense at least be sympathetic to the time I spent"

Yes, at least be sympathetic to the time I spent. And call me. Ass. I wish I wasn't so lazy and could figure out how to put music on here. But I am lazy and that's just how it is. So you should download the song by Jason Mraz and hear it's lyrical goodness for yourself.

So I have some other random thoughts that I've decided to use this blog as an outlet for.

1. Lady Gaga is extremely annoying. I heard her live on something and it has made it worse. She sounded horrible. So not only is she not a great singer, but she is completly ridiculous with her stupid outfits, pantslessness and electric tape nipple guards. I am all for being orginal and cool and hip, but seriously. The thing that bothers me is that one, she is getting tons of attention for being a complete goober. Attention needs to go to people that are doing awesome things and making the world a better place. And two, her ridiculousness probably costs a shit-ton of money and again, that money could be going to people and causes that are awesome and make the world a better place. The cost of her nipple guards could probably feed a family of 4 for a month. Or something. I realize things are this way because being ridiculous is what sells...but that is just sad. And disheartening. People are so stupid. I can't lie, I love her songs...but I think they can be performed without all her expensive, extravagent ridiculousness. And what is up with the tea cup? Ugh, I want to slap her to the floor.

2. Miss California is a complete dodo. Whatever, have your dumb beliefs about marriage being between a man and a woman...but woman! Realize what the hell you are doing and who you are talking to! You are at a freaking Miss USA pageant trying to WIN and the judge that is asking you the question is GAY. And the audience is full of GAY people. Stupid, stupid girl. Have your beliefs, but figure out how to word them so you don't offend 80% of your audience. Saying "no offense" doesn't count. Also, you were raised to belief that marriage is between a man and a woman. What moral parents you have. Did they also raise you to believe that parading around on stage in front of thousands of people in a bikini was a productive thing to do with your life? Because it's not. Don't worry if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm kind of embarassed I do.

3. This is the funniest post from Go Fug Yourself that I've seen in a while. I was seriously, lol-ing. http://gofugyourself.celebuzz.com/go_fug_yourself/2009/04/fugvate_fugtice.html
My favorite is when she says "And I'm HELLA WICKED GLAAAAAD...." Because that is just funny. Hella wicked. In caps. Brilliant.

4. I am trying to decide whether or not blowing all my money on traveling is a very good idea. Thoughts? I'll be making some of it back...and it won't necessarily be all of it..just a lot. It will mainly be on transportation because I'll be staying places for free. And I really want to go.

5. I recently re-discovered my love of beer pong. I miss it. I miss college. I wish I had more friends to play beer pong with. I also wish I liked beer. It would make it even more fun!

That's all. I'm having a great day and I hope you are too!

If I Could Turn Back Time...

....If I could FIND A WAY. Oh my, I love that song. So much. And I love the video even more.

The outfit! The manly voice! Love it! Only, this isn't the real video, which makes me sad, but the outfit is still pretty awesome.

Anyways, turning back time. Good thing? I think I would like to every now and then. I don't really believe those people that say "I live my life with no regrets." Because I regret things all the time. But, I don't let them rule my life or anything. I don't agonize over them or think that they make me any less fabulous. But, there are things I wish I had done differently and there DEFINITELY things I wish I did or didn't say. But, such is life and life goes on. Mainly I can't get over my stupid date that went awry. Like I said, life goes on.

Anyways, along with turning back time, there were some things I didn't blog about the last week or so because I was too grouchy. Nothing too exciting, but just wanted to share my ridiculous nights out. Last weekend involved a strip club and this weekend involved dancing on the bar. Guess which one I was drunk for. Because one of these adventures was had with me being completely sober. That is how I roll people. I am all for sober fun.

Oh yeah, and Easter! The weather was beautiful and I had some good times with the fam. We had a mini photo shoot.
So festive in pastels. There's more..but who really cares?

Ok, well I thought I had more to say about the past couple of weeks, but I guess I don't. Which is fine because things are going REALLY well right now. I got my job in Italy and things are looking pretty good with the family in Greece. So another European adventure is in my near future adn I am so SO excited!

And I am so so lazy today, people. This post has taken me, like three hours to write. And it's a terrible post. I'm sorry. But I really am SUPER pumped about the future. I swear! More when I am less distracted.

Ciao ciao!

A Medley

OH PEOPLE.

Sorry it has been so long. I didn't want to ruin my ONE HUNDREDTH POST with bad news, so that is why I have been putting off writing anything. Because I was grouchy and full of bad news. But...NOT TODAY!!! NOT only is it my ONE HUNDREDTH POST, but it is also a day of very fabulous news and things to look forward too.

First off, let us celebrate the ONE HUNDREDTH POST. I'm excited, and I hope you are too! Here is a lovely medley of songs with which to celebrate. Enjoy and have a little dance party at your computer. Please. For me.

[Um, right. So I was totally going to put songs here. But then I got lazy and tired and I really just want to post this...so that will have to come later. For now, there is just one. But it's fun. More later. Maybe.]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwEMxYggoKQ

Ok. Next order of business: POSITIVE news! And I am just full of it! It has been quite the roller coaster ride these last couple of weeks. Here's why: I found out I got the job in Italy! Hooray! Celebrate...tell everyone I know and some random strangers. Next day, find out that instead of a three month contract (as agreed upon), they could only offer me a job for two weeks. AHH. WHAT?!?! NOOOOOOO. Retreat into bedroom, refuse phone calls and dream of breaking things. I won't even get into all the reasons why two weeks of work is ridiculous, I'll just say I was super SUPER frustrated. Then, there's hope that I could possibly work more, but I have to wait for.ev.er. for the woman in Italy to email me back. And between Easter (Italians are serious about Easter, I know this first hand) and the earthquakes over there (so sad), the office was closed for quite some time and I had to wait a long time to hear back. Oh yeah, and here's the best part-she tried to email me waaaay back in March and it didn't go through, for whatever reason. Oh, it could have saved so much heartache! Moving on, I finally heard from her again. First it was bad news, sorry, I can't give you more time. Then the good: someone canceled and you can now have five weeks! YAY YAY YAY YAY! No, this still means I will not be making a ton of money, but I don't really care because I will at least be making enough to break even. And I'll be in ITALY so who really gives a shit? Not me! AND-I have found a family in Greece that I can Au Pair for from July-September, which just fits into my new life plan so perfectly because the camp will be over July 4. Those plans are still in the works, so we'll see..but things are looking good! Hip Hip HOORAY! Seriously, I am so pumped! Now, I just have to move out of my house and get all my shit together before June 1 when I leave. For Italy. :) :) :) :)

Also, I'm going to New Jersey to visit my lovely sister in May, as well as attending a study abroad reunion in New York that weekend. So I just have all kinds of things to look forward too and I really could not be more pleased.

I'm so happy I got to share all of this with you. (That was said in the flattest voice possible...if you've seen Dirty Dancing Havana Nights, you know what I'm talking about. So funny)

So yeah, I've got my fingers crossed and want you to cross them for me as well. And if you pray, say a little prayer for me.

Also, this Au Pair website is cracking me up! Here is my favorite line so far:
I don´t want someone who doesn´t know how to be in every place, and doesn´t know how to eat (without noise).
I think that means she needs someone that can adapt to different situations and has some manners. I could be wrong.

Alright, well I have more good things to say, but I'm going to wait until later when I'm not so tired. And when I can think of another good Rolling Stones song. I feel like a traitor. Sorry Mick. I'll send you a postcard from Italy.

CIAOOOOOOOO :)

07 April 2009

You can't always get what you want....

...but if you try sometime, you just might find, you get what you need!

Only I'm not getting anything I want nor what I need. I don't really know what I need, other than a job, but it seems like nothing is going the way I want it. And by nothing I mean that I am super pissed that this boy has not called me. Stupid stupid boy. I guess this is why people hate dating so much. Because just when you think everything is going all great, it all goes to hell instead. Maybe I should just try. But what should I try? Mick Jagger, HELP ME!!!!

Whatever, moving on, who likes my Rolling Stones theme for April?! I do! I don't know how much longer it's going to last, though, because I don't know many other Stones songs. Maybe I'll mosey on over to iTunes later and educate myself.

Oh yeah, and I put in my two weeks notice today. Do I have a new job lined up? Nope. Good job me. I think I might sign up for the adsense thing you can put on your blog and start making money that way. I don't really know the logistics of it, but I guess it can't really hurt anything. Or maybe I'll find some other body parts to donate. You don't need both kidney's, right? I wonder how much one would go for. JUST KIDDING. Where would I even find a market for that? Or maybe I'll actually do what I've been saying I want to do and go abroad. Just maybe.

I'm in a snarky mood right now. I don't really know what that means, but I think that is how I can best describe myself at this moment. So I'm going to shut my mouth, find some Stones to listen too and not blog again until I have something positive to say.

Thank you and goodnight.

**UPDATE: I slept in my awesome flannel pajamas last night (because it's freaking cold again!) and plucked my eyebrows...and am feeling a lot better now :)**

I Can't Get No....Satisfaction

Cause I try and I try and I try and I TRY!

Gah, and I was doing so great too! And don't you worry, I still am doing great. But I'm just frustrated!!! With everything it seems!

The weather is sucking at the moment...maybe that is some of the problem. It's been raining for like, two days now. I like the rain..when I'm home...in my bed. Not when I'm driving to work and/or sitting at work. No good. But I think it's going to be nice this weekend, so I'm sure I'll be better.

Also, I committed some serious dating no-nos this weekend and now I am so mad at myself! Stupid jacky! I thought I was above simple dating rules and sadly, I am not. I am a mere mortal. In fact, why would I even think such things when I have so little experience?! I'm still having a great time, but I feel like I messed things up with someone and I didn't want to do that!!! I wanted things to work! Or for us to at least make it past date one. Shoot. But it was a super great one date...so at least I have that. Also, I may be jumping the gun a little since not even a week has passed yet. We'll see. I'm just impatient.

I really want some puppies! I miss those little things and could use some serious puppy love right about...now.

But here is the real problem: I miss Rome. Oh goodness gracious, I miss it so bad. Mainly because I looked at this:
http://www.budgettravel.com/bt-dyn/content/article/2009/03/20/AR2009032001160.html?wpisrc=newsletter

And it made my heart hurt. Literally, I could feel it aching. I have been to most of the places pictured and I want to go back. To be complety cheestastic, I left a little piece of my heart there and I have to go back to make things better. In general, I am just so ready for some traveling. I want to get out of Charleston SO SO bad. I want to finally do what I've been saying I was always going to do and leave to see the world. I just feel so stuck sometimes. I am waiting patiently to hear back from the job I applied for in Italy and it is KILLING me! I want to know NOW!

Sigh.

But, for some good news: I started my improv class! I think it's going to be fun! There are some doodoos in my class, but hopefully they will make things interesting instead of annoying. Also, a friend is coming to visit this weekend and I'm super excited about that. It's almost the weekend. Oh yeah! All the signs at Curves have been looking really sad lately because they are just ugly print outs of things. We had a food drive and we were competeing with the other Curves and we WON (hooray!) and there was this pathetic looking piece of paper that was like, we beat Belle Hall. It was so sad looking and no one even really noticed it. So, I offered to make some new ones (because a victory is worth celebrating!), but I was kind of nervous the owner would be offended. But I took them to her this morning and she was really really happy! So yay, I'm happy too. I haven't seen them up yet because I couldn't go this afternoon, but I'm sure everyone there is just so impressed with my poster making ablitities. It's kind of my thing. I was the banner makign queen in high school..and college a little. Not to brag or anything. So that was a good story.

Here's to thinking positive for the rest of the week! Cin cin! Also, here are some of my favorite pictures of Rome I wanted to share. Tear.

The view from my apartment. Many good times on our teeny tiny porch.

Castle Saint Angelo and the Bridge of Angels. It has a secret passage to the Vatican! So cool!

Just thought this was funny.

That is my heart that I left there. I need to go retrieve it. Andiamo!
